We have the power of life and death in our tongue

On September 27th we had the pleasure of having one of our VCA teachers do Friday devotions. Raeann Hedgpeth talked to the children about how our words have a significant impact on how we talk. In Proverbs 18:21 it says "Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit there of." Therefore we should choose our words wisely and remember that our words should always glorify God. Raeann also talked about how one day ALL will have to give an account of EVERY word we speak to our Heavenly Father. Matthew 12:36-37 "And I tell you this, you must give an account on judgment day for every idle word you speak. The words you say will either acquit you or condemn you.” When we read this bible verse it shows us just how serious our words can be because not only do they affect the people around us, but also ourselves as well!

Raeann did an experiment with the children at VCA. She had them empty a tube of toothpaste and then she gave them different "tools" to try to put the toothpaste back in. The children were up for the challenge of trying to get the toothpaste back in the tube, but found it very difficult to do that task. She reminded the kids that we should think before we speak and that our words no matter how young or old we are can make a difference. Ephesians 4:29 "Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them." In the world that we live today, life is hard. We should all strive to be KIND, and uplift one another with the words that we speak!
